Research Technician Position, Ferkey
Lab, University at
A Research Technician position is available in the Ferkey Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at the
University at Buffalo (SUNY). For more
information about our department, please see: http://biologicalsciences.buffalo.edu/. Research in our lab is directed towards
understanding the regulatory mechanisms that control animal behavior. Using C.
elegans sensory behavior (e.g. chemosensation) as
a model, we study the regulation of G protein-coupled signal transduction
pathways as well as the mechanisms by which the neurotransmitter dopamine
modulates signaling and behavior.
A Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related field is
required. Applicants must be sharp,
highly motivated, well organized and capable of multi-tasking. A solid understanding of genetic principles,
molecular biology (especially subcloning, PCR and DNA
electrophoresis) and general chemistry is essential. Responsibilities
will include making common lab solutions, maintaining C. elegans strains
for the lab, ordering and stocking lab supplies AND contributing to research
projects. A motivated and productive individual can expect to be included
as an author on publications including his/her work.
Pay will be determined based on level of
experience. Please email, as a single
PDF file, your cover letter, CV (including relevant courses and grades
received), and contact information for three references to: dmferkey@bio.buffalo.edu.
