Two
postdoctoral positions are available in the lab of Alla Grishok at
http://cpmcnet.columbia.edu/dept/gsas/biochem/faculty/Grishok.html
The
research in the lab is focused on understanding how RNAi connects to
transcriptional regulation of genes and what biological roles this regulation
might have. Our recent results suggest that some proteins required for
RNAi-induced transcriptional silencing (TGS) have a role in positioning
nucleosomes and might interfere with transcriptional elongation. Therefore, the
goal of one of the projects will be to study the molecular mechanism of TGS in C. elegans. Another interest in the lab includes
biological roles of RNAi-induced transcriptional silencing. Recently found connections of endogenous
siRNAi pathway to stress response and longevity will be in the focus of this
project.
Motivated
applicants interested in studying novel phenomena are encouraged to apply.
Prior experience with C. elegans and
knowledge of protein expression techniques is advantageous but not required.
