We are looking for a highly qualified and motivated

Research Technician

to join the new research group of Dr. Helge Grosshans, who uses cell culture and the nematode C. elegans to study the function of microRNAs. MicroRNAs are non-coding RNAs that control important aspects of animal development. In humans, they have been implicated in a number of cancers.

In this role, you will maintain cell lines and nematode strains and carry out biochemical, cell culture and microscopy experiments. In addition, you will be involved in lab organization, ordering, and database management. While the emphasis is on collaboration with other researchers in the lab, you will also have the opportunity to pursue an independent research project.

For this challenging position, you should have experience of standard molecular biology techniques such as PCR and cloning. Knowledge of cell culture, RNA biochemistry and/or C. elegans is advantageous. You will be expected to work independently and to have a high level of organizational and communication skills (English and German), as well as proven ability to work in a team. This full-time position begins in November  2005.

Have we raised your interest? If you would like to join a dynamic, world-class research institute, we look forward to receiving your application.
