Academic/Pharmaceutical
Industry Postdoctoral Fellow in Neurodegeneration and Drug Discovery
Applications
are invited for a unique postdoctoral research opportunity in both academia and
industry. An individual is sought to join the laboratories of Dr. Richard Nass at Indiana University School of Medicine and Dr. Kalpana Merchant at Eli Lilly and Company. Dr. Nass's laboratory incorporates a multidisciplinary approach
that utilizes the nematode C. elegans
to identify and characterize known and novel molecular components involved in
Parkinson's disease (PD). The joint venture will deploy several in vivo whole-animal screens for the
identification of molecular pathways and therapeutic leads that may be involved
in or inhibit PD-associated neurodegeneration.
We
are seeking highly enthusiastic and motivated individuals with a Ph. D in
molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, biochemistry, pharmacology, or
similar. Experience with C. elegans
or other genetic model systems is strongly preferred but not essential.
Applicants
should submit CV, letter of application, future research interests, and contact
information for three references by email to: Dr. Richard Nass,
Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Indiana University School
of Medicine, 635 Barnhill Drive, MS 549, Indianapolis, IN 46202-5120, email:
ricnass@iupui.edu, ph: 317-278-8505. Review of the applications will begin
immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
