Academic/Pharmaceutical
Industry Research Assistant in Neurodegeneration and Drug Discovery
Applications
are invited for a unique research opportunity working in both academia and
industry. A Research Assistant is sought to join the newly established laboratory
of Dr. Richard Nass at Indiana University School of
Medicine. Our laboratory
incorporates a multidisciplinary approach that utilizes the nematode C. elegans to identify and characterize
novel molecular components involved in Parkinson's disease (PD) and heavy
metal-associated dopamine neuron cell death. We are also deploying several in vivo whole-animal high-throughput
screens for the identification of neuroprotective
compounds that will provide candidate PD drug leads.
Dr. Nass's group has a significant collaboration with the
laboratory of Dr. Kalpana Merchant at Eli Lilly and
Co., and the position provides opportunities to work within both settings.
We
are seeking highly enthusiastic and motivated individuals with a BS/BA or MS in
biology, molecular biology, genetics, pharmacology, or similar. Experience with
C. elegans or another genetic model
system is essential.
Applicants
should submit CV, letter of application, and contact information for three
references by email to: Dr. Richard Nass, Associate
Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Indiana University School of
Medicine, 635 Barnhill Drive, MS 549, Indianapolis, IN 46202-5120,
ricnass@iupui.edu, ph: 317-278-8505. Review of the applications will begin
immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
