Research Technician                      

 

This post will be based in the newly-created School of Graduate-Entry Medicine (GEM) and Health, located in the Medical School, on the site of the Derby City General Hospital, with easy access to the Peak District.  It builds on the University’s research and teaching strengths in biological and medical sciences adding to a portfolio of leading professional courses. 

 

This post requires creativity and initiative, the ability to work independently and as part of a team.  As well as possessing good communication and interpersonal skills, the successful candidate will prioritise the workload to deal with a variety of requests and tasks. 

 

Candidates should possess an HNC in a relevant subject, together with proven experience, or significant work experience, in a relevant role.  Preferred qualifications include a BSc in Biology or Physiology and past experience with C. elegans, dissecting signalling pathways, microscopy, molecular biology techniques and biochemistry techniques.

 

It is a condition of this post that satisfactory enhanced disclosure is obtained from the Criminal Records Bureau. 

 

Salary will be within the range of £19,841 - £23,692 per annum, pro rata, depending on qualifications and experience (salary can progress to £28,290 per annum, subject to performance).
