A postdoctoral research position is available starting March 1, 2008 to carry out genomic and functional analyses on a novel gene from the root-knot nematode, a widespread plant pathogen.  This gene appears to be required for recognition of the nematode by the resistance gene Mi-1.2 in tomato. Expertise in molecular cloning and in vitro gene modification techniques is required.  Experience with Northern blots, genome analyses and protein interaction studies using yeast 2-hybrid analysis or co-immunoprecipitation are desirable.  The position is renewable annually and available for two to three years. Applicants should submit CV and contact information of three references by email to vmwilliamson@ucdavis.edu by December 15, 2007. The University of California is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
