If you'd like to become a postdoc in the Avery Lab...

We're always glad to hear from researchers interested in joining the lab. There are usually at least half a dozen open projects waiting for hands to do them. Some of these are particularly suited to postdocs, in that they are broad enough to serve as a basis for founding a lab of ones own. We are especially interested in prospective postdocs who have independently thought up projects of their own, as long as they're broadly related to excitable cell function or behavior in C elegans.

If you're interested in becoming a postdoc in the Avery Lab, please send a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, preprints of any papers in preparation or in press, the names and addresses of three people who can supply recommendations, and a cover letter describing your research interests to:

Leon Avery

Dallas, TX 75235-9148

e-mail: leon@eatworms.swmed.edu
After your application is reviewed, we will typically invite you to visit Dallas for an interview, at which you will be asked to give a talk and to meet and talk with all members of the lab. We are looking for highly independent scientists who will be fun to work with and have fun working with us. After your interview the whole lab meets and decides whether to invite you to join the lab, after which it's up to you.
