1999 International Meeting
The major Worm meetings occur on a two-year cycle. In odd-numbered
years there is an International Worm Meeting in early summer. The
first took place at Wood's Hole in 1977. From 1979 - 1989 the
meetings were at Cold Spring Harbor. In 1989 it became clear that we
had become too big for CSH, so the 1991 - 1999 meetings were at the
University of Wisconsin in Madison. At the 1999 meeting, we were once
more straining the seams of our accomodation, so we moved to the
University of California, Los Angeles campus for 2001.
The so-called off-year meetings began informally in the late 80's.
They meet in early summer in even-numbered years. The European
meeting has occurred regularly for some time now, and an East Asia
meeting also. Originally North American meetings were geographically
organized (West Coast, Midwest, and East Coast), but recently they
have been organized by subject instead ("Topic Meetings") and occur in
Madison, Winconsin.
